What type of service is this?
Safe Haven is not an on-demand care provider or nanny service. We offer premier, professional chaperone and accompaniment services with an emphasis on safety, risk-assessment, situational awareness, reliability, and clear communication. All services are:
Pre-scheduled
Conducted under clearly defined supervision boundaries
Governed by structured techniques and protocols
Who are our travel services for?
Travel services are designed for families who need a trusted, professional adult to accompany and support a child during travel — whether for a single trip or an ongoing arrangement. Our clients range from everyday households navigating busy schedules to private families and estates with complex logistical needs. Each engagement is tailored to the child’s safety, comfort, and the family’s specific circumstances. Examples include:
A single parent who needs reliable support coordinating a child’s travel
A student traveling between school and home
Children traveling between parents in different cities or countries
Parents working on location who would like their children to safely join them
Personal assistants coordinating travel between principals and their children
Athletes requiring professional chaperoning for regional, national, or international competitions
Are we background checked?
Yes, we are vetted through TrustLine, California's background check organization for child-care providers. TrustLine background verification ensures an individual has no disqualifying criminal convictions, or arrests, and no substantiated child abuse reports in California, which are checked at:
California Department of Social Services
California Child Abuse Index
FBI Criminal History System (a one time only Criminal History Check for arrests/convictions that are reported to the FBI from all 50 states)
TrustLine also crosschecks with the California Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing database, and databases of other California State Departments to ensure applicants haven't had licenses or permits denied, suspended or revoked for reasons that would potentially disqualify them from being Registered on TrustLine, at:
Department of Health
Department of Health Care Services
Emergency Medical Services Authority
Department of Aging
Additional information on TrustLine's background check process can be found at their website.
Is there a minimum age requirement?
While we have no minimum age requirement, we do enforce age-specific guidelines. Infants and Toddlers (newborn-2 years) must be accompanied by a parent or authorized adult at all times. Young children (under 6) must generally be accompanied by a parent or authorized adult, however, exceptions may be approved only by prior written agreement and subject to additional parental consent and destination suitability. Children 6 and older may travel without an accompanying parent with prior parental authorization.
How does booking work?
Services are scheduled in advance by the parent or legal guardian. Each booking includes a robust intake process to gather necessary information and itinerary details, including:
Traveler name, birthdate, profile photo
Pickup and drop-off locations
Authorized individuals and release instructions
Selected drop-off protocol (e.g., curbside, office escort)
Emergency medical and contact information
How do you verify identity?
We use identity verification measures that may include:
A specific confirmation code or PIN
Traveler identifying information (such as date of birth)
Visual confirmation against traveler profile information or trusted-adult photo ID
If verification cannot be completed, we may refuse service and will notify the Client.
When is a hand-hand transfer required?
Hand-to-hand transfer is required for younger travelers unless the client explicitly authorizes another release method. Age thresholds and release rules are selected by the parent client intake and service terms agreement and must align with destination policies (schools, programs, camps, etc.).
What if someone else tries to pick up or receive my child?
Only authorized individuals may release or receive a traveler. We will not “make exceptions” when authorization is unclear.
What happens if there is a delay or no one is available at drop-off?
If a traveler is not ready for pickup or an authorized recipient does not appear at drop-off:
A short grace period applies
Waiting fees may accrue
Extended delays may require returning the traveler to a safe location at the Client’s expense
Repeated delays or no-shows may result in service suspension.
What about safety and readiness?
For traveler comfort, we always provide limited convenience items such as bottled water, phone chargers, hand sanitizer, tissue, and first aid supplies. Food and additional purchases are never provided unless expressly authorized in writing.
Travel companion services provide door-to-door supervision and support for minors traveling domestically or internationally. This may include airport coordination, flight accompaniment, ground transportation, hotel check-in, itinerary supervision, and structured oversight throughout the duration of travel. Each engagement is customized based on the child’s age, destination, and the level of supervision requested by the parent or guardian.
Yes. When overnight travel is required, accommodations are arranged to ensure appropriate supervision and safety. Room arrangements are determined in advance with the parent or guardian. Typically, separate sleeping accommodations are secured within the same hotel, ensuring proximity and proper supervision while maintaining age-appropriate boundaries. All lodging details are discussed and approved prior to travel.
The client is responsible for all travel-related expenses, including:
Round-trip airfare (for both the child and companion, if applicable)
Lodging
Ground transportation
Meals and reasonable daily travel expenses
Activity or event fees related to the child’s itinerary
Travel arrangements may be booked directly by the family, coordinated through a personal assistant, or arranged in consultation prior to departure.
Supervision level is defined in advance by the parent or guardian. For most travel engagements, the companion remains with the child throughout transit and structured activities. If the child is attending supervised events (such as camps, competitions, academic programs, or family visits), the companion’s role may adjust accordingly while remaining available and on call. Expectations are clearly outlined prior to departure.
Yes. International travel services are available. Parents or guardians are responsible for ensuring:
Valid passports
Required visas
Travel authorization documents
Any necessary notarized consent forms
All documentation must be finalized prior to departure.
Emergency contact information and medical details are collected prior to travel. In the event of illness, delay, or unforeseen circumstances:
Parents are contacted immediately
Local medical care is sought if necessary
Travel adjustments are coordinated promptly
Clear communication protocols are established before the trip begins.
Yes. Travel between households — including interstate or international arrangements — can be supported.
Custodial documentation and written authorization must be provided in advance to ensure compliance with travel and border requirements.
Services are typically designed for school-aged children and adolescents. Younger children may be considered depending on itinerary and level of supervision required. Each request is evaluated individually.
Travel companion services are typically structured as:
A daily or multi-day rate
Plus all travel-related expenses
Or a customized flat engagement fee for defined itineraries
A written agreement outlining scope, supervision level, and financial responsibility is executed prior to travel.
